A Case Study SPOTLIGHT
Why Mobile and Telehealth Clinics, and Why Holistic Practitioners?
As Holistic practitioners, we are taught to search for the root cause of illness. Sometimes, we have to ask the right question to be over the target, other times, we need to look and forage deeper. A peek into the life of a patient/client sometimes gives us more clues that we wouldn't otherwise see in a clinical setting.
Why Mobile?: A home visit, and a keen sense of smell, discovered the root source of illness in this case.
Sex: Female Age: 38
Chief Complaint: Gastrointestinal distress, allergy symptoms Duration: Symptoms lasting 9+ months
Signs and Symptoms (S/S): Fatigue, body aches, brain fog, stuffy nose, itchy eyes, coughing (asthma), nausea, diarrhea.
Key S/S Clue’s: Symptoms went away while on vacation and while on a work trip (but not from working at home). This leads the Practitioner to believe the root may be in the home environment.
Signs: Moldy/mildew smell, green/black specs, and discoloration within the water reservoir and internal parts. But NOTHING was visible for the patient who needed a prescription eyeglass update, or to the patient with the stuff nose.
The Cause: Keurig coffee maker (which can carry 6-8 mold types)!
Confirmation: A MycoTOX urine test confirmed a mycotoxin overload in her body.
Resolution: Soak disassembled parts in diluted bleach water, or run through the dishwasher. Fill the water chamber with equal parts white vinegar, water, run 2-3 cycles.
Prescription: The patient was sent home with a Chinese Medicine prescription. Symptoms resolved in 48 hours.
Tests: Dr. Anne used the MycoTOX urine test to confirm the diagnosis. This test is also available in her MicroMedicineClinic.
Community Reminder: Please wash your coffee makers!
